Abstract
The polarization independent wavelength-tunable channel-dropping filter will be an important component in future optical transmission and optical switching systems. Though such filters have been demonstrated,1,2 manufacturability is still a concern. In the design Ref. 1, the crosstalk between the TE- and TM-polarized light is sensitive to fabrication imperfections. In Ref. 2, the polarization independent design is sensitive to both fabrication imperfections and refractive-index tuning.
