Abstract

Poling organic polymers containing hyperpolarizable dye species can produce high second-order nonlinearities. One limitation for the application to second-harmonic generation is the difficulty of achieving phase matching. A solution is to use periodic spatial modulation of the nonlinearity to achieve quasi phase matching.1
