Abstract
Photorefractive quantum wells (PRQWs) are attracting attracted increasing attention for applications compatible with laser-diode sources, but they have thus far suffered from relatively low diffraction efficiencies. The exploitation of multiple-beam interference in thin epitaxial quantum-well films, can lead to significant enhancements in diffraction efficiency. The largest diffraction efficiencies occur in asymmetric Fabry-Perot electroabsorption modulators.
