Abstract

Holographic image storage in an inhomogeneously boadened absorption line of a persistent spectral-hole-burning material has been studied extensively.1 The great wavelength-multiplexing capability of a hole-burning material permits the storage of 103 –106 images in the same spatial area of a medium. Therefore, hole-burning holography is expected to be an ultrahigh-density image-storage technique. More than 2000 images have been successfully stored in organic-dye-doped polymer samples.1
