Abstract
Recent work on spatial solitons in photorefractive media has shown theoretically and experimentally that the application of an external field to these materials permits long- lived, but transient, solitons.1-4 A related study has shown that photovoltaic materials (such as LiNbO3) may support bright and dark steady-state planar solitons.5
