Abstract
The ability to efficiently connect many high-speed ports is of critical importance for large-capacity data communications. For example, high-speed electronic data processors, 2-D sensors, or "smart" pixels may require interconnection between each other or with some central point. High bandwidth, 2-D optical planes can be employed to achieve such an interconnection and avoid eventual electronic bottlenecks.[1-3] However, this solution does not efficiently enable one plane to simultaneously and reconfigurably interconnect with many subsequent planes.
