Abstract

Efficiemission filters are in great demand for applications in fiber-optic systems. To date, demonstrated single-passband filters have been limited to either wide-passband /wide-stopband or narrow-pass-band/narrow stopband combinations.1−4 Fabrication concepts for filters that combine a narrow passband with a wide stopband have proved elusive. We report here what we believe to be the first fabrication of Moiré-fiber-grating resonators by using superimposed broadly chirped fiber gratings to produce high-finesse transmission filters.
