Abstract
Room-temperature upconversion lasing has previously been observed from Tm3+, Ho3+, Er3+, and Pr3+ ions in ZBLAN fibers at wavelengths as short as 480 nm.1−6 Lasing at 380 nm has been observed in Nd3+:LaF3 for temperatures up to 90 K, and lasing at 413 nm has been observed in Nd3+:YLiF4 for temperatures up to 40 K.7,8 The first demonstration of room-temperature lasing at 381 run and 412 ran in Nd3+:ZBLAN fiber is described here.
