Abstract

Near-infrared diffusing-light probes offer new possibilities for medical applications such as the noninvasive measurement of tissue oxygenation in homogeneous tissues. Direct imaging of the optical properties of multiply scattering heterogeneous tissue is an important potential that has only recently been considered.1 We present what to our knowledge the first experimentally derived images based on frequency-domain diffusing-photon tomography.
