Abstract

Microchip lasers1 are miniature, diode- pumped, solid-state lasers that have unique properties which allow single-frequency operation, short Q-switched pulse lengths2 (<1 ns), and an ability to scale the output power using parallel arrays of microchip lasers.3 These devices are made using semiconductor packaging and fabrication techniques.
