Abstract
Recent developments have made continuous-wave optical parametric oscillators (cw OPOs) a topic of rapidly expanding interest.1,2 This is a result, firstly of the introduction of new efficient nonlinear media, and secondly, of pump lasers of much greater frequency stability. In combination, these factors offer the prospect of low threshold, widely tunable, stable singlemode-pair operation of cw OPOs. In this paper we report for the first time to our knowledge, all-solid-state-laser-pumped operation of cw OPOs in lithium borate (LBO) and in potassium titanyl phosphate (KTP).
