Abstract

Photonic techniques are being investigated for signal transmission in the next generation high energy physics experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Lightwave techniques (analog and digital) constitute a key issue in the front-ends of particle tracking detectors, where the required signal bandwidth and the number and density of detector channels are reaching the saturation of conventional electronic interconnections.1,2
