Abstract

Recently, diffusing photons have been demonstrated to non-invasively probe turbid media and characterize inhomogeneities that lie within these media.1 In this contribution we present an analytic solution for the scattering of diffuse photon density waves (DPDW) by spherical objects embedded in an otherwise homogeneous turbid media, and we present experiments which corroborate this solution. The solution is then shown to be useful in a simple imaging algorithm.
