Abstract
Recently,1 the surface-emitting second-harmonic generation (SE-SHG) have been realized in the semiconductor waveguides with vertical Fabry-Perot resonator. High conversion efficiency achieved in ffiat 'work has prompted us to investigate the possibility of cascading2 optical nonlinearity in such scheme and thus achieving the selfaction of light commonly associated with the third-order nonlinear processes. We have shown theoretically that such operations as optical limiting, optical phase conjugation, optical coupling, self-phase modulation and self-induced anisotropy are all possible using resonantly-cascaded SE-SHG.
