Abstract

Compact, tunable, mid-infrared coherent sources operating near room temperature have potential applications in spectroscopy and chemical sensing. Such sources can be made by mixing near infrared laser diodes in nonlinear optical waveguides using quasi- phasematched (QPM) difference frequency generation (DFG).
