Abstract

Ti:sapphire crystal is now widely recognized as an excellent solid-state material for laser operation in the near-infrared spectral region. Its broad gain bandwidth extending for ~660-1100 nm provides both the large tuning range and the ability to generate ultrashort pulses. Various mode-locking techniques and synchronous pumping1,2 have been employed in Ti:sapphire lasers for generating ultra short pulses.
