Abstract

Diode- pumped intracavity frequency-doubled solid- state lasers could be a promising light source for future optical disk drivers if the chaotic amplitude fluctuation is reduced. This fluctuation is derived from a nonlinear coupling among multiple longitudinal modes. Some attempts, using quarter wave plates,1 twisted mode cavities, or birefringent filters,3 have been made to reduce the fluctuation.
