Abstract

Efficient second-harmonic generation (SHG) of the high average power of copper vapor lasers (CVLs) can provide a new source of ultraviolet (UV) for photochemistry, photobiology and industrial applications. The SHG of CVLs using BBO has been demonstrated by several groups.1-4 The small acceptance angle of the BBO limits the conversion efficiency because of the large divergence of the fundamental beam. Recently CVLs with near diffraction limited divergence were obtained adapting a self-filtering unstable resonator (SPUR), hut the output power was lower.
