Abstract

The internally pumped Nd:YAG tube laser has the highest efficiency of all flashlamp-pumped Nd:YAG lasers.1,2 In contrast to our former experiments we now had a full-length Nd:YAG tube of 130-mm length (35-mm i.d., 53-mm o.d.) and the pumped crystal length is matched to the flashlamp arc length. This improved the efficiency further and we obtained over 10% total efficiency at up to 1200W of output power.
