Abstract

Scaling of high- brightness, diode- pumped solid- state lasers is addressed by developing an architecture that provides near diffraction limited beam quality at average powers up to the kilowatt range and scaling the energy per pulse by scaling the size of Nd:YAG slabs through diffusion bonding.
