Momentum induced by pulsed-laser ablation of tissue

Abstract

Significant impulsive momentum is imparted to residual tissue during pulsed-laser ablation from the surface of the tissue because the mass ablated is generally ejected with sizable velocity. This momentum is equal to the integral over time of pressure applied to the residual tissue.
