Abstract
The interest in ablation of tissues by Holmium and Erbium lasers has rapidly grown in the past few years.1-3 A deep comprehension of the phenomenon is required to select the laser type and the operating regime, either free running or Q-switch, that is most suitable for a specific application. Several physical models of the photo-ablation induced by excimers and thermal lasers already exist; however, their predictions have been compared with experimental data at most on the basis of threshold values and ablation rates.4-6
