Subpicosecond synchronization of Ti:sapphire lasers

Abstract

There is a need to synchronize mode-locked Ti:sapphire lasers to other mode-locked laser systems such as Nd:YAG, diode, and free electron lasers. The accuracy with which the Ti:sapphire can be locked to an external frequency source is best determined by locking two Ti:sapphire lasers to the same source and determining the relative jitter through a cross correlation measurement.
