Abstract

Symmetrical self-electro-optic effect devices (S-SEEDs) are potential elemental devices for logic gates and logical latches of optical digital signal processing systems because of their low switching power and integratability. In ordinary operation, S-SEEDs show optical bistability. We have found, for the First time, a metastable point isolated inside the bistable hysteresis curve for a SEED based on Wannier-Stark localization1 (WSL-SEED).
