Abstract
Magnetoelectro-optic effects introduce a new dimension to electro-optic and photorefractivc phenomena. Diluted magnetic semiconductors, such as CdMnTe, have pronounced magneto-optic effects that can be tailored by controlling the fraction of the magnetic ion. II-VI semiconductors, such as CdTe, have already been shown to have good linear electro-optic and photorefractive properties. The diluted semiconductors retain these properties, while providing new variety to the photorefractive effect.
