Abstract

KNbO3 is an attractive electro-optic and photoconductive material, which presents one of the best photorefractive figures of merit for many applications. Large beam coupling gain1 and fast response times in the order of 100 µs2 have been reported previously. Pauliat et. al. demonstrated the possibility of using reduced KNbO3 as a light amplifying medium in optical resonators with either linear or ring configuration3 More recently, the performance of KNbO3 as a phase-conjugate mirror has been described. Rytz et al reported a phase-conjugate reflectivity of 26% at 124°C, using undoped KNbO3 and an external ring cavity.4
