Abstract

Phase conjugation via stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) has become a well established approach for achieving nearly diffraction-limited beam quality from high- peak-power solid-state lasers. The motivation of the present effort is to extend SBS phase conjugation to applications such as coherent laser radar requiring longer pulses and lower peak powers (0.1-1 KW) on the phase conjugate mirror (PCM). In the limit, one might even employ SBS phase conjugation in a high-average-power CW laser.
