Generation of 25-J nanosecond poises with stimulated Brillouin scattering

Abstract

A two-cell stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) pulse compressor design that can be scaled to large laser pulse energies is described. The configuration uses two SBS ceils arranged as shown in Fig. 1. The design uses a polarizing beam splitter to direct a portion of the input energy into an oscillator region while the remaining energy is directed into an amplifier region of the SBS cell.
