Abstract
Laser action corresponding to the 3H4 – 3H5 transition in Tm3+:doped LiYF4 (YLF) has been demonstrated previously.1 Tunable operation of this laser was observed at eleven discrete wavelengths within the 2.25-2.45 µm range. In this paper we discuss the first to our knowledge continuously tunable cw laser performance of this transition in Tm3+:YLF, Output powers of 63 mW are obtained at 2.3 µm, with continuous tunability extending from 2,29 to 2.42 µm.
