Abstract

Stimulated Raman scattering as well as Raman oscillation has long been demonstrated in silica fibers as well as in liquid core waveguides. The frequency shifts obtained in silica are in the 400 cm−1 −500 cm−1 range1; using organic liquids such as cyclohexane, shifts as large as 2924 cm−1 has been demonstrated 2 Toxicity and volatility are some of the problems associated with the use of organic liquids.
