Vibrationally Resonant Infrared Four-Wave Mixing

Abstract

A new family of Doubly Vibrationally Enhanced (DOVE) coherent spectroscopies has been developed in which two tunable infrared difference frequency lasers are scanned over vibrational transitions. The four wave mixing output is anti-Stokes of a third green laser, is spatially filtered and detected with a photomultiplier. These spectra, taken in room temperature solutions without any monochromator, have demonstrated S/N ratios greater than 700:1.
