Abstract
KTiOPO4 (KTP) is an excellent nonlinear optical crystal that is particularly suitable for frequency conversion applications. Protas and his coworkers1 have reported that CsTiOAsO4 (CTA) is isostructural with KTP and has similarly large optical nonlinearity, The crystal growth of large single crystals of CTA, however, differs from those of KTP since CTA decomposes at the relatively low temperature of −920°C With suitable modification of the crystal growth process, we can now grow large single crystals of CTA. We report here on the growth and characterization of these crystals.
