Abstract
Many multiple wavelength solid-state laser systems1 can be considerably simplified by using a single amplifier to amplify simultaneously all the wavelength components. We demonstrate here multiwavelength amplification in a single Ti:sapphire amplifier. The Ti:sapphire amplifier is a two-stage amplifier, in which each stage is arranged in a double-pass configuration. Each stage is pumped by a frequency-doubled Nd:YAG laser. The single-pass small-signal gains in each stage are 1.6 ± 0.1 at 810 nm and 1.5 ± 0.1 at 765 nm. Single-frequency input beams at 765 nm and 810 nm are spatially and temporally overlapped prior to amplification. Each input pulse energy is variable over the range of 0–2.5 mJ.
