Abstract

The aim of the EUREKA program EU205 is to obtain a 1-kW industrial XeCl laser. There are different ways with specific applications to reach this goal, for example, 1 J × 1 kHz or 3 J × 300 Hz. SOPRA has chosen 10 J and 100 Hz, that means a large discharge volume and, therefore, x-ray preionization, multithyratron switch, and circulation loop for the gas mixture.
