Abstract
KTiOPO4 (KTP) crystal has a large nonlinear coefficient and a wide transmission window. Tunable laser emission over a wide spectral range can be obtained with high conversion efficiency when KTP is used for the optical parametric process. For pumping light of 355, 532, and 1064 nm, the angle tuning phase-matching curves and the effective nonlinear coefficients were calculated for bi-axis KTP crystals in three principal planes, respectively. Also calculated were the difference of angle tuning curves in the X-Z plane for flux grown and hydrothermally grown KYP crystals. Experiments were conducted by phase matching of type II in the X-Z plane, which has a larger effective nonlinear coefficient and wider tuning range than those in the other principal planes.
