Abstract

The peculiarities of achieving phase conjugation (PC) in the middle IR wavelength range both by four-wave mixing (FWM) and by stimulated Brillouin scattering arising because of the wavelength increase are discussed. The mechanisms of nonlinear interaction, nonlinear media (resonant gases, semiconductors, dielectrics, etc.) and schemes of PC mirror design for pulsed 10-µm laser radiation are compared and their parameters defining obtainable FWM reflectivity and PC fidelity are made apparent for different characteristics of laser radiation (duration of pulses, radiation line width, state of polarization, signal intensity, etc.).
