Abstract

Mode-locked Q-switched pulses have been produced with single-mode energies of 1.0 mJ and pulse widths of 90 ps using diode-pumping techniques.1 To further amplify this pulse into the 10-mJ range and higher, a new amplifier has been developed, using the total internal reflection (TIR) slab approach but with compactness, high extraction efficiency, and symmetry in mind.
