Abstract
Recent improvements in nonlinear optical materials and laser sources have made harmonic generation appealing for achieving wavelengths that otherwise would be inaccessible. Using an external resonant cavity for second-harmonic generation (SHG) makes this frequency conversion very efficient and therefore more attractive for producing useful powers at the new wavelengths. In this paper, we describe an efficient high-power, coherent UV source produced from a cw Nd:YAG laser via two sequential external resonant doubling stages.
