Abstract

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) of cancer obtains tumor selectivity in part from the preferential accumulation of photosensitizing drugs in tumor tissue. The optimization of PDT requires a knowledge of the time course of drug concentration and selectivity of drug for tumor. Most determinations of tissue levels of such PUT drugs have been made using chemical extraction of the drug from tissue biopsies.
