Abstract

Microchip lasers are diode-pumped miniature monolithic flat-flat solid-state cavities that produce narrow-linewidth, single-frequency, diffraction-limited output.1–6 They can be inexpensively mass produced by polishing and coating large wafers of gain media, which are subsequently cut into individual devices. Typical dimensions are <1 mm3
