Abstract

We previously proposed a microlens that could be integrated with a laser diode (LD) by using the planar process, and we demonstrated its focusing characteristics in the horizontal direction.1 In this report, we propose a gradient refractive index lens for vertical direction focusing and present the characteristics of this device integrated with an LD.
