Abstract

Although the theory and practice of optical wave mixing mediated energy and polarization exchanges in nonlinear optical media appear to have been standardized for many years, new principles and phenomena continue to emerge as the underlying nonlinear interactions. The material properties are reexamined. In this paper, we present a detailed theoretical analysis bused on experimentally obtained material parameters of polarization switching and beam amplification in two general classes of nonlinear materials.
