Abstract
We will review coherent time gated methods for discriminating against scattered light in tissue that has traveled less direct paths than either unscattered laser light or laser light that is heavily forward scattered. We will describe new results from our method of chrono-coherent imaging (IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Imaging, v-36, p. 1210-1221, 1989). In CCI a holographic recording serves to both provide a time gate and to record the image information from objects hidden in a scattering medium. We will discuss reflection and transmission recording geometries and the use of mode-locked and random phased, long pulse dye lasers.
