Abstract

Ionic excimer molecules have recently been proposed as possible VUV and XUV laser species.1,2 The fluorescence from Cs2 F- was observed using ion-beam excitation3,4 and soft x-rays excitation from a laser-produced plasma.5 As a preliminary step toward achieving an ionic excimer laser in the vacuum ultraviolet, we report for the first time our observation of emission from Cs2+ F states using electron beam pumping.
