Abstract

Efficient sources of blue light based on the up-conversion of semiconductor laser diodes are presently sought for a variety of applications, including optical data storage, color displays, and undersea conununications. Frequency-doubling of GaAlAs laser diodes,1 strained-layer InGaAs laser diodes,2 and diode-pumped, solid- state lasers3,4 has been investigated for the generation of blue-green radiation.
