Abstract

The phenomenon of self-induced frequency shift (SIFS) in self-pumped BaTiO3 phase conjugators of various types has drawn considerable attention recently because of the potential applications of these devices in line-narrowing and controllable wavelength scanning in tunable dye and semiconductor lasers. Among these, the performance of the "CAT" phase conjugator (CATPC) which makes use of the fanning effect and total internal reflection around one of its corners, is of particular concern.
