Barium strontium titanate (Ba1-xSrxTiO3): a promising photorefractive material

Abstract

Although mixed crystals of Ba1-xSrxTiO3 (BST) with small concentrations of strontium (Sr) can be expected to exhibit photorefractive properties similar to those of pure BaTiO3, there has been no report to our knowledge of the photorefractive behavior of BST in the literature, probably because of the lack of single-domain crystals with good optical quality. As part of an ongoing effort to make BST crystals available for photorefractive studies, we report here the results of photorefractive experiments on a BST crystal.
