Abstract

Stimulated Brillouin scattering is an important loss mechanism for large-aperture laser fusion drivers and optical fibers. Use of stimulated Brillouin gain spectroscopy for measurements in solids was reported recently.1 We describe measurement of Brillouin gain coefficients in crystals based on stimulated gain spectroscopy.
