Abstract
First-order grating waveguides are widely used as reflectors in integrated optics, particularly in semiconductor laser resonators. Another type of resonator is the second harmonic (SH) resonator, in which relatively high conversion efficiency can be achieved.1 Gratings offer art attractive alternative to the currently used lumped mirrors, particularly if SH resonators are to be combined with semiconductor laser sources to yield short wavelength coherent sources.
