Abstract
Laser emission was characterized from various hosts co-doped with Tm3+ and Ho3- ions and excited with an alexandrite laser. The threshold and slope efficiencies as well as spectral and temporal profiles of the laser emission were investigated as a function of pump-laser energy and wavelength. A rate equation model has been developed to reproduce the observed temporal evolution of the laser emission.
